A veteran member of the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers, Muhammad Wilkerson has been arrested as of Saturday morning, and charged with driving under heavy intoxication in Manhattan, according to the Police. A spokesperson of the police has informed the Associated Press that the arrest of the 29 year old was accused before the Manhattan Criminal Court and was released shortly after. He has also been accused of running a stop sign and driving while he was impaired. He was pulled over in a Washington Heights neighbourhood in the wee hours of Saturday where his blood alcohol level was a staggering .09, while the legally permissible limit is .08.
WABC-TV reported that the police recorded Wilkerson running a stop sign at 3:30 am eastern time. Once pulled over, Wilkerson’s eyes were said to be bloodshot and his breath smelled of alcohol. The New York Daily News stated that court documents have shown that his statement to the police was that he had consumed only one shot of alcohol and two beers.Wilkerson finished the last season on the Packers’ team as an injured reserve after suffering from a broken ankle in the third week.
He is a resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and a native of New Jersey, and was recuperating from his injury at the Packers’ facility until March 2019. As a free agent, as per NFL rules, he was not allowed to work-out at the designated team facility.
