On Monday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr told to reporters that Kevin Durant is officially out for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Durant has not played since he had strained his calf in Game 5 of the Warriors’ in second-round series. Till Monday afternoon, the Warriors were not sure whether Durant would even travel for games on Thursday and Sunday to Toronto or not.
In the conference final, with the absence of Durant, the protecting champs closed out the Rockets in Games 5 and 6 prior to sweeping the Trail Blazers. Steph Curry has averaged better than 35 points per game since Durant went down in the five games. With Durant on the floor this postseason, Curry’s average was just more than 23 points for each game in the 11 playoff games.
For Game 1 after suffering from a quad injury in Game 2 in the first-round series of Warriors against the Clippers DeMarcus Cousins is uncertain. He recently took part in the non-starters scrimmages but it is not sure that when he will be able to come back to the game action.
Moreover, The Warriors are looking for their third straight NBA title as well as their 4th in five years.
On May 30, Thursday, the Game 1 of the NBA Finals will be played in Toronto.
