Rockville Elementary has been selected to receive the KAHPERD Model School Gold award for its excellence in physical education. The KAHPERD Model School Program is designed to identify, recognize and award schools that provide model physical education programs.

This award process promotes quality physical education throughout the state of Kansas and provides opportunities for physical educators to share ideas for the purpose of enhancing the physical education experience for all students. The award will be presented at the 2019 KAHPERD State Convention in Pittsburg, KS. Rockville Elementary’s physical education will also be highlighted in the Spring 2020 issue of the KAHPERD Journal.

In April, few members of KAHPERD Model School Committee visited Rockville and were more than satisfied with Elementary school’s facilities and equipment for Physical Education

The indoor facilities are outstanding and provide for optimal learning,” according to the report.

Committee members said special needs students are included in regular physical education classes. The report also noted strong evidence of integration, including writing, health, nutrition and math, as well as good use of technology.
